Ugh

Been working so much lately. Trying to keep up. I did however meet a really cool Atheist today. I recommended some books for him to read. Hooray.

I'm appalled.

Jaw dropping

I cannot begin to express all of the things that are wrong with this.....

For one, our country(USA) was founded as a Secular country.

Definition of Secular

The Constitution gives every American the right to disagree and argue any point/opinion made by anyone else in this country. You can publically disagree with the President if you want! Now, we can't disagree with Jesus? Now we can't disagree with Mohammed? What is going on?

I'm almost at a loss of words about this. I think the UN has finally gone bonkers. I love this country and I'm glad I was born in a developed society. We are FREE to speak our minds. No matter who you are, in my honest opinion, you have a right to disagree or speak your piece. To take away our right to disagree publicly is just throwing away one of the main foundations of this country. If no one ever said, "No, I disagree with what you say," do you realize how far behind we would be? Our doctors would not know what they know and practice in a sophisticated way. Our laws would not have changed. African Americans never could have won the Civil Rights movement, and Homosexuals would still be shunned and mistreated, women(like myself) could not vote. How did all of those marvelous movements in America come to be? Because someone said, "No, I think you're wrong." To remove our right to speak out against Religion is despicable. I've listened to Christian Radio in my car and I heard a commercial about Christians feeling as though they are being "silenced" on radio and other public speaking opportunities. In the commercial the announcer stated a website to go to(I can't remember what it's called ><) in order to stop the "silence" they believe they're undergoing. There is nothing wrong with a disagreement! Simply put, person A says, "I believe this." Person B says, "Hmm, I do not believe that." Who does that hurt? What feelings are hurt by that? Religion needs to lose its unprecedented hold on the world. Religious people might get their feelings hurt? What about all the Outted Atheists who have been abandoned by their families and friends? Outcast solely because they said, "No I don't believe that." What about all of the stigma faced by Atheists? It seems as though these decisions are being made by infants incapable of understanding the ramifications of this motion. Are we condoning Thought Police? Are we eventually going to become Winston in 1984? I can't imagine a modern country such as the US condoning this action. Religion is, and always will be, a gun in the hands of an infant. Misunderstanding and misuse of it can be dangerous, and at times, fatal. Stop this now, everyone! We need to pull together and respect each others differences. If we were all the same and thought the same, we'd never get anywhere and our science, medicine, technology, and our social movements, would never progress. Let everyone keep their voice!

Are you wondering what that A is on my page?

The A stands for the OUT Campaign. All Atheists should visit this website and see what you can do. Atheists take up a more substantial amount of the population(yes even in America) than most people might think. Don't be scared or frightened. You have every right to stand up for what you believe in and don't let anyone tell you that you don't! Be yourself, be free, and come OUT!

No more cat herding!

Richard Dawkins' 7 Wonders of the World

I just finished watching this video and it was truly enlightening. I saw some cool tricks done by a spider to catch its prey and I saw bats who create their own weather-proof tent! Please do enjoy!! It's only about 30 minutes long and I can't resist a documentary with Richard Dawkins. He's such a great speaker.

Militant Homosexuals

Since I've been living in Texas(I'm from Pennsylvania) the last year and a half I've listened to a lot of Christian talk radio. I listen to it mostly for my own amusement, to shake my head, and to gasp at the pure conviction of these people. I've heard sermons and people just sitting around talking about values. MOST of the values I hear them speak of I agree with when it comes to ethics. The fact of matter remains that morals are morals, no matter what your religion. If the only reason you don't kill someone is because of God's wrath, are you moral? No. I don't kill people because it's just wrong to take a life. Is the only reason you don't rob banks because you're religious? No, you don't steal because of a moral conduct we have evolved to respect. Treat yourself how you want to be treated. I just don't understand how they can carry these morals in the name of God. I don't believe in God and I'd never dream of killing someone or robbing a bank or raping someone. I care about fellow people. Altruism is not correlated with religion. Altruism is correlated with being a human being. I help an old lady when she falls, I try to cheer up a crying child, I help my loved ones when they are sick. Why? Because being a good person for altruistic purposes makes more sense than being good because you're scared into it.

Sometimes I listen to what is said on the radio by the Religious people and I am just astounded at how 19th century it is. I'm astounded and appalled by the treatment of homosexuals as if they are monsters and sexual deviants. I've actually heard a radio personality refer to homosexuals as "Militant." How disgusting and far fetched is that? How many homosexuals have you seen carrying M-16's and pipe bombs? I mean, where is the sense in that statement? I just have such a hard time believing people still think slavery, racism, and bigotry is acceptable. It's just gross and it needs to stop. This world could be even more wonderful if we accept life NOW and live life for NOW and not some silly superstition our parents forced down our throats. We need to abandon the thought of, "Ah there's a life after this one that is so much better because GOD is there! I don't need to care about this one nearly as much!" It tends to make one think they are worthless and this life is meaningless. Wake up folks. Free your mind and read a book.

Take a stand!

Recently in England, 800 buses have been stamped with "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life." The project was co-founded by one of my favorite people of all time, Richard Dawkins. As soon as I read this I had an idea he was part of it. haha. Also billboards have gone out here in the states in Colorado, recently around the holidays. I think this is a wonderful step up for Atheists everywhere. Some of us are starting to come out of our shells a little more and this will only help to further that process along, I believe. It's about time we see these, and imo, we need to see more. Stand up for yourself and enjoy your life. Don't fear a malicious false being who threatens to smite you if you do not believe. I have never believed in religion and I have yet to be smitten by his holy wrath. Millions of other Atheists will tell you the same, and also that we live rich, fun, normal lives without regret or any kind of closed-mindedness. If you're Atheist, I raise a drink to you. If you're religious, I still raise a drink to you, but I'd also suggest reading a book about evolution. Humans are all one on this Earth, why torture, kill, maim, slaughter, and hate over something none of you can prove is right? Religions can sit here yelling, "NO MY GOD IS RIGHT! YOUR GOD IS WRONG!" back and forth until the end of time, and they still will have be no further than where they were billions of years past. We'd just have a lot more genocide, murder, division, hatred, and ignorance to write about in Earth's history.
