Militant Homosexuals

Since I've been living in Texas(I'm from Pennsylvania) the last year and a half I've listened to a lot of Christian talk radio. I listen to it mostly for my own amusement, to shake my head, and to gasp at the pure conviction of these people. I've heard sermons and people just sitting around talking about values. MOST of the values I hear them speak of I agree with when it comes to ethics. The fact of matter remains that morals are morals, no matter what your religion. If the only reason you don't kill someone is because of God's wrath, are you moral? No. I don't kill people because it's just wrong to take a life. Is the only reason you don't rob banks because you're religious? No, you don't steal because of a moral conduct we have evolved to respect. Treat yourself how you want to be treated. I just don't understand how they can carry these morals in the name of God. I don't believe in God and I'd never dream of killing someone or robbing a bank or raping someone. I care about fellow people. Altruism is not correlated with religion. Altruism is correlated with being a human being. I help an old lady when she falls, I try to cheer up a crying child, I help my loved ones when they are sick. Why? Because being a good person for altruistic purposes makes more sense than being good because you're scared into it.

Sometimes I listen to what is said on the radio by the Religious people and I am just astounded at how 19th century it is. I'm astounded and appalled by the treatment of homosexuals as if they are monsters and sexual deviants. I've actually heard a radio personality refer to homosexuals as "Militant." How disgusting and far fetched is that? How many homosexuals have you seen carrying M-16's and pipe bombs? I mean, where is the sense in that statement? I just have such a hard time believing people still think slavery, racism, and bigotry is acceptable. It's just gross and it needs to stop. This world could be even more wonderful if we accept life NOW and live life for NOW and not some silly superstition our parents forced down our throats. We need to abandon the thought of, "Ah there's a life after this one that is so much better because GOD is there! I don't need to care about this one nearly as much!" It tends to make one think they are worthless and this life is meaningless. Wake up folks. Free your mind and read a book.
